THIS WEEK’S COMMUNITY STANDOUT: BE THE WHY EVENTS
It all began one night in a musky basement bedroom with two young lads posturing and pondering a community minded events center that would enrich the community and bring people together. One Luke Erickson, was the engineer of such a noble undertaking. Luke started his community aspirations by the creation of UNITED OUTCRY—a worship oriented event that brought multiple denominations together to a single event that facilitated raising up youth and young adults in the community. Today, Luke and his wife, Brittany, proudly affirm youth in there involvement in church groups and their community, and they have now expanded their reach to a broader audience in order to facilitate even greater community involvement and to use their proceeds to support a greater swath of community minded organizations.
#BeTheWhy Events was borne of fire and rain in 2018, when Luke, along with the utterance of Brittany, decided to host a free event in their local neighborhood of Spring Lake Park, MN. They must have had 10+ bouncy houses that were turned into slip and slides because of a slight drizzle in the forecast. He also hosted a band from Toronto which made for a muddy mosh pit. It was real. It was fun. It was raw. It was real fun and raw. All were welcome. After that United Outcry went through a transformation. No longer was it simply a chance to facilitate worship gatherings. The worship gatherings have sprouted arms, legs, and feet, and it become something more. It already possessed the shield of faith, but now it was given the buckler. The measure of faith needed to persevere in close combat. Why hide in plain sight when your sight is so noble. You can ask who, where, when, what, and how, but the why comes from God’s mouth. If you can but fathom what He says about you and the plans He has for you and take up the full armor of God, maybe you then too can participate in the why.
To be clear, science and logic can only go so far. As stated earlier: the who, what, where, when, and how can be stated as logical and scientific. For example, what makes the sky blue? Scientific reasoning can explain that. It can explain green grass and leaves and all the colors of the rainbow, but can it explain why? Could it be that God wants us to experience beauty? That we are more than conqueror’s? That we are worshipers declaring victory on the frontlines in the army of God? Mr. and Mrs. Erickson invite you to be that why. Be the reason that someone gets there miracle today. Live on purpose, not just with purpose. Be more than just a follower, #BeTheWhy be a worshiper.
